Sign standards · v1 · October 2026
The code is the sign.
Every BanditBeacon sign, rider and sticker exists to get one thing read from the street: the ES- code. These rules apply to BanditBeacon signs, riders and stickers you print yourself or have printed elsewhere, and are part of our terms.
Using our printed stickers or riders? They already follow these standards. The sign you put them on, such as your brokerage sign, doesn't have to; just keep the sticker or rider whole, uncovered and unaltered.
The four rules
Code first
The ES- code is the largest element on every piece.
Black on yellow
The code is always black (#141820) on Signal Yellow (#FFD735). No other pairing.
One sign, one code
Every printed piece carries its own code and QR code from the app. Never print an example code or reuse one code on two signs.
Nothing in the way
No lines, patterns or photos behind, over or between the code characters or the QR code.
Minimum sizes
| Piece | Trim | Code | QR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yard sign | 24 × 18 in | ≥ 2 in | ≥ 6 in |
| Yard sign, portrait | 18 × 24 in | ≥ 2 in | ≥ 6 in |
| Rider | 24 × 10 in | ≥ 1.5 in | ≥ 4.5 in |
| Vertical rider | 6 × 24 in | ≥ 2 in | ≥ 4.5 in |
| Sticker, square | 6 × 6 in | ≥ 0.75 in | ≥ 3 in |
| Sticker, strip | 12 × 3 in | ≥ 1.25 in | ≥ 2.25 in |
| Sticker, vertical | 3 × 12 in | ≥ 1 in | ≥ 2.25 in |
Code: minimum character height. QR: minimum width, including its white margin. About 10 ft of reading distance for every inch of code height. A QR code scans from roughly 10 times its own width.
The code and the address
- Format: ES- followed by the sign's digits, for example ES-4827, in IBM Plex Mono Bold, uppercase, on a full-width yellow band. On vertical pieces, ES on a black band in yellow, then one digit per row.
- "Enter this code at" and banditbeacon.com sit with the code, as the second-largest text in the code band.
- Never split digits across lines, add separators, outline the characters, or set the code in another color or typeface.
The QR code
- Use the QR code the app makes for that sign, unchanged: dark modules on pure white, error correction Q, no logo, colors or rounded modules.
- Keep a clear white margin of at least 4 modules on every side, and never shrink it below the minimum width.
- Scan a printed proof with two different phones before printing the full run.
Layout, colors and type
- Top to bottom: brand band (15–20% of the height), message, QR code, code band (25–35%), footer. Keep text and QR codes 0.5 in inside the trim on signs and 0.25 in on stickers.
- Colors: Signal Yellow #FFD735, Ink #141820, Beacon Blue #1749D1 (brand band only, never behind the code), Night Navy #0B1B34, Paper #FFFEF9. Co-branded signs may set the brand band in your own color; the yellow code band never changes.
- Type: Instrument Sans Bold and Semibold for words, IBM Plex Mono Bold for the code. Both are free from Google Fonts.
- Keep the QR panel and the code band clear of anything else, so a re-code sticker can cover them if the sign is ever given a new code.
Printing
- Yard signs and riders: 4 mm corrugated plastic with UV inks, matte. Stickers: outdoor vinyl rated 3 years or more, with a matte laminate.
- Files: PDF, CMYK, fonts outlined, QR code as vector, 0.125 in bleed, crop marks outside the trim. Approve a printed proof for color and scanning.
- Place signs only where it's lawful and you have permission.
